I'm not a workers rights expert but pretty sure you cant lower someones pay if you are paying them based on a wage (at least in most first world countries ). As for the Teacher example stop being a nerd.

Generally speaking I think you will get farther being nice to people instead of giving them a hard time :/

I wouldn't think so hard about it. There are some people out there who just want to get revenge over anything big or petty.
